Unsolved homicide victim honored through 5K

MUSKEGON, Mich. -- Nearly eleven months have passed since Rebekah 'Becky' Bletsch was fatally shot in the head while jogging less than a mile from her Muskegon County home.

Saturday, June 13th, Becky's sisters held a 5K to create awareness of the June 29th tragedy and to honor their sister's life. Nearly 250 people attended Saturday's event to help honor Becky's life.

"When you think about how she spent her last moments, I thought, let's honor that. Lets do something she loved, lets bring everyone together and just remember her," said Jessica Josephson, Becky Bletsch's sister.

The untimed run began at Fricano's Pizza on Muskegon Lake and extended to Grand Trunk before finishing back at Fricano's.

"Becky would be so proud and I know she's looking down on everybody with a big smile on her face," Becky Bletsch's other sister, Nicole Winberg said.

A silent auction and raffle was held in conjunction with the remembrance run/walk that featured several items provided by donors. Nearly $5,000 was raised and will go toward the college fund for Becky’s daughter.

"Every day you wonder who did this, why they did it and are we going to find who did it," Jessica said.

No suspects have been named and in the investigation is ongoing. There is a $10,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest.

Detectives continue to investigate Becky's death and are asking for anyone with information to come forward. You can call Muskegon County Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME or submit a tip online.
