Calhoun County Sheriff & local businesses team up for BBQ fundraiser to fight hunger

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Police officials and local businesses are joining forces for a good cause that’s fulfilling in more ways than one:  it puts barbeque on your plate, and the proceeds go to benefit God’s Kitchen.

Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton, Meijer, Sam’s Club, and Arcadia Brewing Company are all collaborating to fight hunger in Battle Creek by sponsoring a barbecue fundraiser on Friday, June 19.  Dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church on Capital Avenue NE.

The menu will consist of barbecue chicken and pork spare ribs, baked beans, potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, dinner rolls, ice cream and punch. Arcadia will prepare the meat for this event.  Tickets are $15 each. Dine-in, carry-out and free deliveries will be provided for 5 or more orders.

Organizers are encouraging everyone to buy a ticket even if they cannot attend, because it will be given to a homeless or needy person/family ahead of the event.
