Murder charges in 2013 Elks Charity Lodge shooting

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A 20-year-old man is facing two charges of open murder in connection with the 2013 shooting at the former Elks Charity Lodge, 149 Ottawa St., according to the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jamel Kawon Quinney was charged Tuesday with killing Dupree Johnson and Ja’Colby Brown during the Sept. 22, 2013 shooting, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Maat.

Twenty-year-old Jalisa Love also died that night after being shot and then hit by a vehicle.

According to Maat, Quinney was previously charged with lying to police and carrying a concealed weapon in connection with the Elks Charity Lodge shooting, and pleaded no contest in July 2014.    According to online jail records, his next court date is June 18 and he is being held without bond.
