NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — A bear was hit by a vehicle and killed in Newaygo County Monday night, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident happened at roughly 9:30 p.m. on M-37 near 24th Street, according to a press release. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Officials with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are evaluating three cubs in the area that they presume are from the dead bear. DNR officials also took possession of the bear’s body.
