GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — New details are emerging about the competition that is replacing the traditional Waterfront Film Festival this summer.
The festival collaborated with ArtPrize this year, to bring the all-new ArtPrize OnScreen: Presented by Waterfront Film Festival, an inaugural film competition to be held during ArtPrize in September.
Organizers announced on Tuesday that there will be at least 20 films competing for three ‘best-in-category’ awards: Best Feature, Best Documentary, and Best Short Film. Those awards will be based on public vote.
Each film in the competition will also be eligible for the main cash prizes in ArtPrize’s public and juried awards. The films will be unveiled later this month.
While this year’s competition replaces the Waterfront Film Festival along the lake shore, organizers say they are in talks to bring a four-day festival back in June of 2016 or 2017.
