GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A train collided with a stopped truck Monday near US-31 in Grand Haven Township.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported at roughly 10:20 a.m. on Winans Street near southbound US-31.   The truck, driven by a 47-year-old West Olive man, was stopped on the tracks waiting for a car to turn.

A southbound train hit the front-end of his truck.   Investigators said the engineer sounded the train’s horn and put on the brakes, and the train was going about 23 miles per hour at the time of the crash.

No injuries were reported.  The train was stopped for about 45 minutes while officials investigated the crash, according to a release.
