GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The 19-year-old man found dead Saturday in a Grand Rapids church parking lot has been identified by police as Tyler Javon Wingfield.
According to a release, autopsy results show that Wingfield died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. His body was found in a parking lot in the 3700 block of Kalamazoo Avenue SE at about 6:12 a.m. Saturday.
Police considered Wingfield a suspect in the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Jalen Braswell-Thompson, according to a release. Braswell-Thompson was shot in the 500 block of Howard Street SE on the morning of May 28.
