KALAMAZOO, Mich.–An 18-year-old robbery suspect was arrested early Saturday morning, according to officers.

Kalamazoo Public Safety said they were called about a purse snatching in the 800 block of N. Westnedge Ave. just after 1 a.m. A public safety officer and his canine found the suspect in the 1300 block of N. Church. Apparently, there was a struggle while trying to arrest the suspect, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun fell out of the suspect’s waist band. After that, he was arrested without any more incidents.

Public Safety officers said a check on the gun revealed it had been stolen in Kentwood.

Officials said the 18-year-old was taken to the county jail on charges of unarmed robbery, resisting and obstructing arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.
