SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — A 7-month-old infant was taken to the hospital with head injuries after she was dropped by a home invasion suspect, according to a release from Michigan State Police.
The incident started when suspects Lanna and Ryan Kish broke into a 37-year-old South Haven woman’s home, MSP from the Wayland Post said in a release. The woman legally adopted the baby girl from Lanna Kish and has also been taking care of Kish’s 2-year-old for the past several months, according to a release.
Police say the couple went to the home at roughly 10:25 a.m. Wednesday to pick the toddler up. The woman did not answer the door, and the couple called police. According to a release, they broke into the home before police arrived.
The woman told police that Ryan Kish picked her up and threw her into a crib after he broke into the children’s bedroom. She also told investigators that Kish then picked up both children and intentionally dropped the infant on her head before leaving the home, according to a release.
Ryan and Lanna Kish, both 22 years old, have both been arrested. Ryan is facing charges of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, aggravated assault and home invasion. Lanna is facing a home invasion charge.
Officials say the infant is expected to recover.
