6 injured in Portage crash

PORTAGE, Mich. — Six people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash Friday in the area of East Kilgore Road and Deadwood Drive.

According to a release from Portage Public Safety, the crash happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. when a car pulled out onto Kilgore and was struck by an eastbound pick-up truck.

Police say the 19-year-old driver of the car was knocked unconscious during the crash, but one of the four passengers inside was able to take control of the vehicle and stop it.   Three people in that car and three people in the pick-up truck were taken to the hospital.

None of the injuries sustained in the crash are believed to be life-threatening, according to a release.
