Suspects charged following hotel armed robbery

SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. — Investigators with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office say two suspects have been arrested and charged following an armed robbery at a hotel in Schoolcraft in December.

Corey Nicholas Edgerly,, 24,  and Kelli Rose Smith, 28, are both facing one count of armed robbery and being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail on $20,000 bond following arraignment last Tuesday.

The charges stem from an incident at the Plainsman Motel in the 12000 block of U.S. 131 on December 29, 2014. It was around 4:30 a.m. when the couple is accused of walking in armed with a gun, escaping after the robbery in a dark blue car.

The next scheduled court appearance for both suspects hasn’t been announced.
