State’s biggest bodybuilding competition happens in West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– It’s grown into the biggest bodybuilding competition in the state, attracting competitors from around the region, and it takes place in West Michigan.

The 2015 NPC Grand Rapids Bodybuilding Championship is Saturday, May 23, at Grandville High School, located at 4700 Canal Avenue SW. Prejudging begins at 11 a.m. and the night show starts at 6 p.m.

The show’s promoter, Mike Vruggink, said the competition has been ranked the fourth largest national qualifying show in the country. In recent years, the competition has introduced newer categories such as men’s and women’s physique which feature varying degrees of muscularity, as well as masters divisions to include competitors of a certain age.
