AMBER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A home invasion suspect escaped capture, but not before threatening the homeowner and shooting their dog on Thursday. It happened in the 500 block of West Hansen Road in Mason County’s Amber Township.

Police said the homeowner noticed someone in the home around 11:30 a.m. and when the suspect pointed a gun at the victim they left the house.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Department confirmed with FOX 17 News that the homeowner called 911 and  flagged down a deputy who was on a traffic stop.

When investigators arrived at the home they discovered the suspect had taken off. Police said the dog suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.

Police believe there may be more than one suspect involved in this case.
