GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Police are searching for suspects in three separate armed robberies that all took place early Sunday morning.
Police said the first robbery happened around 2:50 a.m. on Prospect NE. Apparently, the male victim had met up with an acquaintance, and the two walked to the man’s home. The victim told police they were followed by two other men, who then went into the victim’s home. All three men then apparently assaulted the victim, taking property from him and stealing his car. Police said one of the suspects had a gun, though it’s unclear if there are three or four suspects in this case. The suspects were all described as black men with heavy accents.
The second robbery, according to officials, happened near the intersection of Giddings Ave SE and Logan St SE around 3 a.m. In this case, the victim was apparently walking down the road when a man with a silver handgun approached him. The suspect told the victim to drop his wallet, but the victim pulled out a knife. The suspect ran, and it’s unclear if anything was taken from the victim. This suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
The third robbery, which officers said happened a little after 3:30 a.m., took place in the 1200 block of Cass Ave SE. Police said a black man in a black hooded sweatshirt approached two people with a gun. He apparently stole cigarettes and $1 from the two victims, then ran off.
Police said it’s not known if any of the robberies are connected in any way. They ask that anyone with information contact Grand Rapids Police at 616-456-3403.
