GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Locals in Grand Rapids raised their glass Saturday afternoon at the Big Brew Day event to celebrate National Homebrewers day.  Hundreds of people headed out to Calder Plaza downtown to either brew their own beer, or taste what others had to offer.

49 local teams participating in brewing what they call 'Calder Red Ale.'  They also spent the afternoon giving away free tastings of their beer and food.  The event was put on by Sicilliano's Market, a local store in Grand Rapids.  They were able to bring the community together and celebrate what a lot of people hold very dear to their hearts-- craft beer.

Many of the brewers we spoke with say the process of making beer is far from simple and that you really have to love it to do it.
