LAKEVIEW, Mich. - The Michigan State Police have been keeping us safe for 98 years and celebrated their birthday at the Lakeview Post, giving back to the families they protect and serve.
State police held an open house Saturday, celebrating their birthday and giving people an inside look at the force for the first time in 10 years.
Specialty services including the Bomb Squad, Dive Team, K9 Team, Aviation, and Motor Unit were present, answering questions and showing off their high tech and innovative technologies. Families had the chance to sit in a State Police helicopter, hop aboard the Dive Team's watercraft, and event meet the K9 Team's police dog.
Feeling disconnected from the community, State Police opened their doors to reconnect and give thanks to the families they protect and serve everyday
