HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — In an appearance on”Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday night, John Stamos confirmed that the Tanner family (or at least, some of them) is returning to your living room via Netflix.
“We were trying to do some sort of spinoff, and we wanted to give credit to the legacy, and we didn’t want to just sort of throw it away,” said Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse on the original 90s sitcom. “So Netflix came around and said ‘Let’s do 13 episodes,’ so it starts sort of as a reunion and spins off into a … spinoff.”
Not all of the original cast members have signed on to return at this point. Stamos said that aside from himself, Candice Cameron-Bure (D.J. Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner), and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) are all on board. Talks are said to be ongoing with Bob Saget, the Olson twins, Dave Coulier, and the other originals.
