GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Runners joined together Sunday morning for the 3rd Annual Gazelle Girl Half Marathon and 5K.
Ottawa Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids was blocked off and filled with runners lacing up their shoes to take part in the races.
The event brought in over 3,400 partipants, making it the biggest run yet.
Proceeds from event go towards four different charities, including Kent County Girls On The Run, the YWCA, GROW, and WAR.
The event was put on by volunteers who know the importance of supporting women in the community.
Mayor Heartwell even made an apperance at the event, saying it was "a beautiful day in Grand Rapids, and that everyone was having a good time."
