MUSKEGON - Investigators with the Muskegon Fire Department and Michigan State Police are working to find out what caused a house fire and explosion late Sunday evening.

Firefighters were first called to the home in the 700 block of Roberts Street just before midnight. The home was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was extinguished, and the scene was first cleared just before 4:00 a.m.  The home is a total loss.

Muskegon fire marshal Major Metcalf said two people lived at the home. Neither were there when the fire started. FOX 17 spoke with one of the residents. She said she was at the hospital at the time. Thankfully, no one was injured in all of this.
