NEWAYGO, Mich. -- Each week, West Michigan’s Most Wanted and Grand Rapids Harley-Davidson recognize a public servant who goes above and beyond the call of duty to help the community he or she is a part of.
This week, three officers from the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office are being recognized for their efforts.
Sgt. Denny Hammersley, line officer Lorita Fernanders and line officer Rocky Mcleod all three recently celebrated 25 years of service with the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office. All are deputies working in the Newaygo County Jail in White Cloud.
Hammersley is a sergeant who oversees one of four shifts at the jail. During his shift he supervises the entire operation -- the jail, officers and inmates.
Fernanders and Mcleod are both line officers who interact with inmates on a daily basis at the jail.
Congratulations to Sgt. Hammersley and Officers Fernanders and Mcleod for being named the Grand Rapids Harley-Davidson Heroes of the Week for the week of April 11.
