Autopsy results give new details in suspicious death investigation

DECATUR, Mich. — Detectives with the Michigan State Police say autopsy results have shed new light in an ongoing death investigation in Decatur.

Terry Dean Gillam, 65, was found unresponsive in his wheelchair at his home on Harrison Street around 5:20 a.m. Monday after investigators say he placed a 911 call to report at disturbance at his home.

First responders were unable to revive Gillam after arriving at the scene.

Due to the nature of a 911 call being placed prior to Gillam’s death, investigators initially ruled the death as suspicious in nature.  However, an autopsy conducted Tuesday revealed Gillam’s death was the result of a heart attack, and no other signs of injury were found.

The case remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.
