GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Byron Center man is being held in the Kent County jail after being charged with sexually assaulting two girls when they were 10 years old.

A probable cause affidavit filed in 63rd District Court shows Arthur Jay Busscher, 66, faces multiple counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) in the case, which, if convicted, could put him behind bars for well over a decade.

Documents show the two alleged victims were interviewed at the Children’s Assessment Center in February after allegations surfaced the pair had been molested by Busscher.

One of the alleged victims, who’s now 15, told authorities Busscher made her get completely naked and lay on top of him so that their private areas came in contact.  The same alleged victim also detailed similar incidents of sexual abuse involving a hot tub and other meetings with Busscher.  The other alleged victim in the case also documented similar incidents involving Busscher.

Court documents also show a previous investigation involving similar accusations involving Busscher in 2010 and an investigation approximately 25 years ago where Busscher was caught peeking into his neighbor’s window on several occasions.

Busscher was jailed on the most recent allegations in late March and is due back in court later this month.
