GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- People across West Michigan gathered at Peppino's in downtown Grand Rapids to celebrate opening day. Fans were sporting their Tiger's gear as they waited for the very first pitch of the season. We caught up with a group of ladies who say they always spend this baseball holiday together.
"We come here every year and we try to sit at either one of these two tables and watch the Tigers opening game... because you know it should be a national holiday! Everyone should have today off... because its a gorgeous day and they're playing baseball in Detroit... it's the first sign of spring" said Sandy Malone, one of the many fans cheering on her team.
Almost everyone had a different answer when they were asked 'who their tiger was' but they could all agree on at least one thing-- they love their team.
