IONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two girls, ages 5 and 8, are in critical condition Friday after a three-vehicle crash on M-66 near Tuttle Road.
According to a release from Michigan State Police, the crash happened at about 11:06 a.m. when a 31-year-old man driving south in a 2004 Honda crossed the center line and side-swiped a northbound vehicle.
The Honda then struck another northbound vehicle, a 2014 Kia, head on.
There were three young children, ages 3, 5 and 8, in the Kia with their 35-year-old mother. The 5 and 8-year-old are both in critical condition, officials said.
The occupants of the other vehicles were also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
