KENT COUNTY, Mich. - The Grand Valley State University Lakers are dancing their ways to the National Dance Alliance Competition, and they're looking to take home their third victory in five years.

The Lakers Dance Team practices more than 20 hours each week, which is something GVSU Dancer, Shelby Lazorka believes is what makes their team stand out from the rest.

"It's a part-time job basically," said Lazorka. "Sometimes it's strenuous, but worth it."

Some of the girls are juggling academics, work and practice. Dancers said being on the GVSU Dance team is a full-time commitment; practicing four times each week, vigorously exercising, and finalizing their dance choreography.

The Laker's have won National's in 2011 and 2013. Now, they're hoping to take home another big win with their top-secrete dance routine.

The National Dance Alliance Competition is April 8th, in Daytona, Florida. After competition, they'll be holding auditions April 25th, for anyone who thinks they've got what it takes to be on the GVSU Dance Team.
