CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Before his senior season, Travis Trice was mostly known as a three-point specialist.

Now he's just playing plain special -- and it's gotten Michigan State to another Sweet Sixteen.

Trice scored 13 of his game-high 23 points in the first 5:28 on Sunday, leading the seventh-seeded Spartans to a 60-54 win over second-seeded Virginia in the NCAA Tournament's East region.

Michigan State will play 3-seed Oklahoma on Friday in Syracuse, New York in the East semifinals at 10:07 p.m.

It is the 13th Sweet 16 appearance for MSU in 18 NCAA trips under head coach Tom Izzo.

Branden Dawson added 15 points and 9 rebounds for the Spartans.
