BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- A pregnant woman was among a group of residents saved by fire crews after a fire broke out at The Arbors of Battle Creek early Friday. No one was injured in the fire and rescues.
Battle Creek Fire Department Capt. Michael Fleisher credited his crews in containing the fire that was reported around 3 a.m. While pouring water on flames that broke through the third floor roof of the apartment building, "we also made some good stops for the fire spreading on each side so we didn't lose the whole building," said Fleisher.
Displaced residents were taken by bus to temporary housing with help from the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
