Police: Man arrested for driving under the influence with 7-year-old in vehicle

THREE RIVERS, Mich. — A man was arrested Tuesday after police say he was driving under the influence of drugs and caused a three-vehicle crash while his child was in the car with him.

According to Three Rivers Police, the crash happened on S. Main Street near Liberty Street at about 7:50 a.m.   Police say the man rear-ended a car that was waiting behind another vehicle whose driver was turning left off of S. Main Street.

The man made no attempt to slow his vehicle down prior smashing into the other car, a witness told police.    A driver and her 12-year-old son who were in one of the other vehicles complained of pains and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect had his 7-year-old son in the car with him, and the boy was later taken to the hospital by another relative for treatment.

The other driver involved in the crash was not injured.

The suspect who caused the crash is facing charges of driving with a suspended license in an accident causing injuries, operating under the influence of drugs causing an accident resulting in injuries and child endangerment.  He will be identified pending formal arraignment.
