GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police identified Donavin Lamar Guy, 28 as the man who was shot and killed early Wednesday morning.

Suspects fired multiple shots at a house in Grand Rapids early Wednesday morning, fatally wounding Guy who suffered a gunshot to the chest.

The shooting occurred at around 12:50 a.m. on Dickinson SE, just east of College Avenue.  Police say an unknown number of suspects fired at a home, striking the man at least once in the chest.  He died at the scene.

Witnesses told officers they saw two men wearing dark clothing running from the scene shortly after the shooting.  Police attempted to track with a K9 unit but were unsuccessful.

There were nine people in the home at the time of the shooting, including five children under the age of 14.  They were all upstairs, and all of the gunshots were directed at the first floor, which is where the victim was located.

This is the second homicide investigation of 2015 in the city of Grand Rapids.
