BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — A former Barry County corrections officer has taken a plea deal after being accused of gross indecency with inmates.

Wayne Lee Hoffman pleaded no contest Friday to one count of felony gross indecency, according to a release from the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office.

Hoffman resigned from his position at the Barry County Jail and turned himself in in  May 2014.

He was accused of asking a female inmate to do inappropriate things with herself and another inmate, the Barry County Sheriff’s Department told FOX 17 when the allegations first surfaced.

He is scheduled to be sentenced April 2 at 8:15 a.m. at Barry County Circuit Court, the prosecutor’s office said in a release.
