GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids woman died at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital Tuesday night after being struck while riding a bicycle. Anita Daugavietis, 58, was found by first responders lying on the pavement with serious injuries around 11:22 p.m.
Responding Kent County Sheriff’s deputies found Daugavietis had been riding southbound in the dark with no lights on Plainfield Avenue near Rockhill Drive when she was struck from behind by an SUV. The driver said she did not see Daugavietis.
Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the accident, said the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.
