DECATUR, Mich. — A car full of young men crashed their car into a house, fled the scene, and were eventually found hiding under a tarp inside a shed.

Deputies were originally dispatched to the 83000 Block of M-51 on a ‘car vs. house’ accident call.  They were told the vehicle was occupied by four individuals.

When they arrived, police found a 1997 Cadillac had crashed into the side of a house.  Three of the four occupants had fled the crash scene on foot.

It was established that the vehicle had been traveling east on Parkhurst Drive when the driver lost control and wasn’t able to stop at stop sign.

Deputy Scott Schmitt and his K-9 partner Temo were called in to assist with finding the individuals, tracking the 22-year-old driver to a shed, where he was found hiding under a tarp.  He was taken into custody without incident.

The other passengers were a 13-year-old male, a 16-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male.
