HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person is dead after a vehicle rolled several times at a high rate of speed on I-94 late Friday.

Around 11:20 p.m. Friday, the Macomb County Sheriff’s department was called out to an accident on west-bound I-94 near Shook Road.

It was determined that only one vehicle with two passengers was involved.

Witnesses to the accident told responding officers that they had seen the vehicle passing others on the highway at a very high rate of speed.  They also reported that the driver appeared to lose control of his vehicle, eventually resulting in the vehicle rolling several times across the highway.

The passenger of the vehicle, a man from Warren, was pronounced dead on scene.  The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Clinton Township, was transferred to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s office reports that it does appear that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
