ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich.–A deputy was involved in a car crash early Sunday morning.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department said it happened around 1 a.m. in the southbound lanes of US 131 near Ravine Avenue.
The deputy’s patrol vehicle was struck by a passing motorist while on the side of the highway. Sheriff’s deputies said the officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and released.
The driver was arrested for driving while operating under the influence, open intoxicants and for violation of a restricted license.
The deputy had previously responded to a vehicle in the median and was waiting for a tow truck when the crash happened.
