KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man escaped injury “miraculously” when a garage exploded Friday night in Kalamazoo, destroying the garage and damaging an adjacent house.
At 7 p.m. Friday, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to reports of an explosion at a residence in the 600 block of Pleasant Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a garage destroyed and the nearby house also damaged by an explosion.
A Kalamazoo DPS officer told FOX 17 NEWS that nobody was injured “miraculously.”
“There was a man working in a doorway at the time who wasn’t hurt somehow,” he said. “It could have been much, much worse.”
He said the blast did not involve a natural gas explosion. Officers are now at the scene trying to find a cause for the incident.
“They still don’t know what caused it,” the officer told FOX 17 NEWS.
