CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Funeral arrangements have been made for a West Michigan teen who was hit by a car and killed Friday.
According to his obituary, Lucas Van Sprange’s celebration of life ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ada Bible Church, 8899 Cascade Rd. SE. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE.
Van Sprange, 15, was hit by a car Jan. 16 on Cascade Road near Manchester Hills Drive after being dropped off in the center turn lane. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
Van Sprange, a Forest Hills Central High School freshman, was an aspiring physician who had recently traveled to Guatemala and built homes in rural areas.
“Since Lucas was 10 years old, when he became severely ill with a brain infection, his goal was to save and enhance lives like his amazing doctors had done for him,” his obituary says.
