OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office said Jazmyne Lyniece Gibson, 21, died from a gunshot wound.

Detectives are investigating this as a homicide.

Sheriff Richard Fuller said a man called 911 on Sunday, around 5:50 p.m. The caller didn't give a location and hung up. The sheriff's office said dispatch was able to trace the call to Copper Beech Townhomes in Oshtemo Township.

A man at the complex pointed police to Gibson's townhouse.

She was taken to the hospital but didn't survive. The sheriff's department released her identity just before 3 p.m. on Monday.

Fuller said a person of interest has been taken into custody. He said he believes this tragedy is an isolated incident.
