HAGAR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Three teenagers were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 196 near Coloma Road on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a three-car accident with injuries on I-196 in Hagar Township. Deputies said Tiwanna Singh, 34, of Ontario. Canada, was northbound in a semi-truck when it was struck in the rear by a 2004 Dodge. The car then hit a 2015 Cadillac driven by Donald Hutton, 51, of Naperville.

The driver of the Dodge — Esau Whitfield, 18, of Benton Harbor – and passengers Alonzo Parker, 18, and Richard Mendez, 19, all were transported to Lakeland Hospital for treatment. No condition reports were available Friday night.

Police said weather played a role and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Northbound I-196 was closed from 4:35 to 5:50 p.m.
