GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Most of the snow West Michigan has seen this week has been of the lake-effect variety, but a fast-moving area of low pressure will bring snow to pretty much the entire FOX 17 viewing area during the late stages of the day Thursday.
The snow is currently shown to arrive during the afternoon Thursday, and pick up into the evening. The snow will be accompanied by temperatures only in the low teens and winds from the southwest and west of 20 to 30 mph at times. The snow will be enhanced by Lake Michigan in many areas along and west of U.S. 131.
By Friday morning, the clipper will be moving out and we will return to a general lake-effect snow pattern that will gradually diminish into the start of the weekend.
The updated snowfall forecast is shown in the image above. Most of West Michigan will pick up 3 to 7 inches, with areas west of U.S. 131 receiving a few extra inches.
