West Michigan — A quick moving storm system will bring widespread snow to West Michigan late Thursday.

The snow should start by early afternoon along the Lakeshore and spread quickly eastward.

Moderate to heavy snow will continue during the evening, before transitioning to lake-effect snow after midnight.

The heaviest snow is expected along the Lakeshore from Holland northward, where amounts could reach 12 inches by late Friday morning.

Strong southwest winds at 15-30 mph with gusts to near 40 mph will cause considerable blowing and drifting snow.
