KALAMAZOO, Mich. — An early morning police chase took place after multiple shots were fired in the area of Ada St. and Burrell Ave. at approximately 2:57 Sunday morning.
Police responded to the gun fire and found a dark colored Chevrolet Tahoe with three people inside. The chase continued until the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle at the 600 block of Mable Street.
A woman inside the parked vehicle had minor injuries. She’s been transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment
Officers found two bullet holes on the driver’s side of the SUV. The driver of that vehicle told officers he was being shot at. Officers searched the path that the suspect vehicle traveled and they located a loaded .40 Cal Glock handgun on N. Westnedge near Harding Place which appeared to have been discarded by the suspects in the SUV.
The driver, a 26-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County jail on the charges of fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated, driving on a suspended license and an outstanding federal probation warrant out of the US Marshals office.
The second occupant, who is a 23 year old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of the Kalamazoo Township Police as well a probation violation charge.
The third occupant of the vehicle was released. Officers returned to the area of the shooting and found several spent .40 caliber bullet casings.
A witness on scene reported seeing suspects in a dark colored Mercury Grand Marquise fire shots at the people in the Tahoe. The suspects in the Grand Marquise are still at large. It is unknown what events lead up to the shooting.
