DETROIT, Mich.- Sources close to the search for Matthew Brunn say he was arrested in Detroit around 2 p.m. Saturday.
An MDOC spokesperson says Brunn was at a known drug house in the area of McClellan and Gratiot in Detroit. He was beat up there but able to get away on foot and went to a Coney Island restaurant in the area of Gratiot and Cadillac.
Customers there called 911 when they saw he was injured. Brunn admitted he was a parole absconder and was taken into custody.
Sources say Brunn was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He will be transported back to Kent County on Monday.
Brunn has been named a person of interest in the homicide of 81-year-old Casey Wybenga.
