PAW PAW, Mich. — A woman has been arrested in a case involving the child abuse and torture of a 6-year-old.
On Friday, detectives from the Michigan State Police Paw Paw Post obtained a warrant issued by the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office and arrested a 47-year-old woman from Bangor for felony child abuse and torture.
The investigation was prompted on Wednesday when MSP troopers responded to the Bronson Lakeview emergency room after medical personnel discovered injuries to a 6-year-old child. Troopers and detectives investigated the incident in conjunction with Michigan Child Protective Services and the child was removed from the residence.
MSP told FOX 17 NEWS that the injuries indicated that the child had been bound.
The suspect’s name will not be released until she is arraigned in court on Monday.
The maximum penalty for both of the charges is life in prison.
