NEW YORK — New York Police arrested several protesters at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday after they broke from their designated route.
According to PIX 11, seven people were arrested after they overturned a trash can and tried to run toward the floats.
Several dozen people gathered Thanksgiving morning to protest the Darren Wilson grand jury decision as well as other recent police killings.
PIX 11 reports that after being directed west on 37th Street, they attempted to turn east toward the parade route.
Seven were handcuffed and loaded onto a police bus. Many others remained at 6th Avenue and 37th Street protesting peacefully, according to PIX 11.
The group organized using the hashtag #stoptheparade on Twitter.
