KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Crews responded to a fire in the 4400 block of Clayborne Drive Saturday. They found a fire in a bedroom … and a body.
Fire was found in one bedroom of the unit after the call at 8:27 p.m., and it was quickly extinguished, leaving the rest of the dwelling undamaged.
During a search of the bedroom the body of Marie McMillan, 47, was found on the bed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the maintainence manager, McMillan had lived there a couple years and never had any problems.
The cause of the fire and the woman’s death are currently being investigated.
