MUSKEGON, Mich.- A Muskegon man is facing a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge involving a 6-year-old girl.

Muskegon County Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Maat confirmed to FOX 17 that 29-year-old Christopher Michael Abbey, of Muskegon, has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly raping a 6-year-old with “cognitive disabilities” at his home on Monroe Avenue in Muskegon.

Abbey has a criminal history in Michigan, including assault with intent to rob back in 2003 and felony escape from jail.

Maat says Child Protective Services first reported the allegations to the police. Abbey is expected to be arraigned on the new charge once he’s released from the hospital, where he is being treated for undisclosed health issues.   He is being guarded by police while in the hospital.
