WALKER, Mich. -- Firefighters battled flames as well as cold temperatures, as they worked to put out a fire at an abandoned auto plant in Kent County on Thursday morning.
The first call came in shortly after 3:30 a.m. for flames showing on the roof of the former Lear plant on Alpine Avenue near Ann Street.
When our crew arrived on the scene, firefighters were still getting the flames under control. Dispatchers report that the fire was brought under control shortly after 5:30 a.m.
There was nobody inside the abandoned plant at the time of the fire. It is not clear what caused the fire, and there were no injuries reported as of this post.
