GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Beginning Wednesday, Joe Kopecek will join the FOX 17 team as Chief Meteorologist.

Kopecek comes to FOX 17 from WZZM, where he was a meteorologist for 13 years.

“After a record-breaking winter and a summer that brought tornadoes and several severe weather outbreaks, more than ever before, experience matters in this part of the country,” said FOX 17 News Director, Brooks Blanton. “Joe Kopecek brings more than 20 years of forecasting experience to FOX 17 News and is already a familiar face to West Michigan viewers. Joe knows weather and I know that he will be a great addition to our weather team.”

Originally from Lake Orion, Michigan, Joe attended Central Michigan University where he earned a bachelors degree in Meteorology. He’s been an A.M.S. certified meteorologist for 15 years. When he’s not working Joe enjoys working out, playing with his dog, jet skiing, and playing football with his son and the neighborhood kids.

“I am extremely happy to be back on the air at FOX 17 as their Chief Meteorologist,” said Joe Kopecek. “My passion is West Michigan weather and I’m excited about joining this great team.”
