GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- Nov. 3 is National Sandwich Day, so FOX 17's Jackie Green decided to head out to some local delis and get the scoop on what sandwiches are being served today in West Michigan.
Our first stop was Skywalk Deli, located on Monroe Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids. Skywalk introduced us to its classic club, a massive sandwich piled high with 4 pounds of meat! If you can eat this in one hour, your meal is free. They also have other eclectic dishes like their grilled macaroni and cheese sandwich that's topped with some fresh ham slices.
Cherry Street Deli was next on our list of sandwich stops, and they have what they call the Gerald R. Ford, a cajun chicken sandwich that is their number one seller.
Another great place to grab a sandwich is Wealthy Street Bakery where they offer a chicken salad sandwich that's not like the rest. They mix in dried cherries and slivers of almonds. It's also served on their fresh bread that is made in house every night.
Our last sandwich stop was Schnitz Deli. The popular sandwich restaurant showed off their pastrami reuben. Their pastrami is made in house and baked each day for six hours before it's chilled and sliced.
