The first robbery happened May 29 at the PNC Bank in Galesburg. The second robbery happened July 29 at a Comerica location in Comstock Township.
During both robberies, the robber brandished a handgun, violently took over the bank, demanded cash, and forced employees into the vault at gunpoint. Authorities believe the robberies may be related.

He used a walkie-talkie, and fled on-foot to a small/medium sized blue four door sedan parked at the Galesburg United Methodist Church. The vehicle was driven by a second unknown male, and they fled westbound on Battle Creek St.
On July 29, the Comerica Bank branch on King Hwy. in Comstock Twp., was robbed by a man armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun. The suspect is described also described as a black male approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a thin build.
During that incident, police say he wore a full-sleeve black hooded sweatshirt, grey sweat pants with double vertical stripes, and he covered his face with a dark cloth. The robber fled on foot to an unknown vehicle north of the bank, possibly in the Veterans of Foreign Wars parking lot on East Michigan Ave.
